The first step of removing ink from carpet is to grab an absorbent paper towel or a clean cloth and start by blotting as much ink as possible from the carpet. This will prevent the ink from seeping any deeper into the carpet.
Once you have removed the moisture of the ink from the carpet, the next step is to grab some water, clean cloths and any mild detergent, cub soda, hydrogen peroxide, vinegar or even Ammonia.
Try these tip on how to get ink out of a carpet:
Using Detergent
1.Add some lukewarm water to a bowl.
2.Mix a teaspoon of regular detergent/cleaning solution.
3.Apply a little solution to an obscure area of the carpet as a test to ensure it causes no discoloration.
4.Once confirmed, apply the solution to a cloth and dab the affected area from the outside layers working towards the center.
5.Do this until all the ink is gone.
6.Dry the area by dabbing with clean cloths or towels.
How to remove Ink from a carpet using Rubbing Alcohol
Rubbing alcohol is a highly potent stain and ink remover that produces amazing results. It is best used for removing permanent inks.
1.Mix one part rubbing alcohol with two parts water in a bowl.
2.Pour the solution into a spray bottle.
3.Gently spray the stained area with the solution.
4.Let it sit for a short while.
5.Gently dab the area from the outwards towards the center.
6.Dry the area.
Alternatively, you can soak a cotton ball in a diluted rubbing alcohol solution and then gently blot the affected area. Do this until the stain disappears.
How to get Ink out of a Carpet Using Vinegar
Vinegar can be very effective in lifting most stains. You can also add some baking soda to really get things clean and bubbling. The fizzing action of the baking soda will help to lift the pigment of the ink from the fibers.
If you are unsure about the safety of the solution, then add a little cold water to the mix so you have a more liquidy paste, which won’t have any bleaching properties. Apply well, rubbing in gently with the back of a spoon.
Leave the solution to sit on the stain for a while (at least 10 to 15 minutes).
