Wool Safe Approved

Wool is a protein fibre formed in the skin of sheep and is a totally natural, renewable source with sheep making a new fleece every year.  At the end of its useful life, wool can be returned to the soil to breakdown quickly, releasing valuable nutrients.  For millennia, wool has been appreciated for its unique properties and science has yet to produce a fibre which matches it.

Wool fibres are naturally crimped, and when packed together, form millions of tiny pockets of air. This unique structure allows it to absorb and release moisture into the atmosphere making wool a natural air conditioner while at the same time heat is either generated or retained giving it natural insulating properties.
Wool fibres resist tearing and are able to be bent back on themselves over 20,000 times without breaking and therefore wool carpets and rugs maintain their appearance for longer. Another unique feature is the protective waxy coating on wool fibres that make wool resistant to staining and pick up less dust as wool is naturally anti-static.  It is not known to cause allergies and does not promote the growth of bacteria. It can even reduce floating dust in the atmosphere, as the fibre’s microscopic scales are able to trap and hold dust in the top layers until vacuumed away.  It absorbs atmospheric pollutant gases permanently and thanks to its high water and nitrogen content, wool is naturally flame-retardant.
